TANTALIZE(V)-
Meaning:-
  • To make a person want something that they can't have or do
  • To excite by presenting or offering something desirable when it is unobtainable
Origin of Tantalize:-

The word tantalize originates from a Greek mythology. The mythology is about a God named Tantalus. He disclosed some of the secrets of Zeus and due to this he received a special punishment. He was plunged up in a pool of water and dangled from a tree of finest fruits over his head. That water and the juicy fruits tree were withdrawn away from him whenever he wanted to drink or taste the fruits.
So tantalize means to torture someone with what that are desirable but they can't get that.



UTOPIA(N)-
Meaning:-
  • An imaginary place or state in which everything is perfect
  • An ideally perfect state 
Origin of Utopia:-

The word Utopia originates from the Greek words "ou" means 'not' and "topos" means 'place' means "the land or place of nowhere". First of all Utopia was used by an Author Thomas More as the subtitle of his political book. Where he describes Utopia as an imaginary island of a perfect systems of social, political and legal.
Dystopia is opposite of Utopia, which means "imaginary bad place".



MARTINET(N)-
Meaning:-
  • A very strict person who demands that other people obey his orders
  • A person who is very strict for his rules and regulation
Origin of Martinet:-

The word Martinet comes from the name of Jean Martinet, he was a General in army who built up the first regular army in Europe during the reign of King Louis. He was known for his strictness. He trained his soldier how to fight in a battle.



MACADAM(N)-
Meaning:-
  • A road surface made of layers of broken stones 
  • A paved surface having compressed layers of broken rocks held together with tar
Origin of Macadam:-

The word Macadam originates from a Scotsman John MacAdam. He was a scholar and he developed the theory that "broken stone should be laid down so that it might be ground into the earth by the normal pressure of traffic and by the beating of the elements". This theory of MacAdam gave us the word Macadam.



CHAUVINISM(N)- [shoh-vuh-niz-uh m]
Meaning:-
  • An aggressive and unreasonable belief that your own country is better than all others
  • Activity indicative of belief in the superiority of men over women
Origin of Chauvinism:-

The word Chauvinism comes form a soldier named Nicholas Chauvin who was a soldier in the army of Napoleon who refused to lose his faith in his leader even after loosing the battle of Waterloo. Nicholas Chauvin was extreme patriotism about his country and leader. Nicholas Chauvin gave us the word Chauvinism which now means fanatical patriotism.
