These words are often close in meaning but used in very different contexts. These words describe something with no people or things inside.


Empty, Vacant, Bare


    Empty

    Empty means containing nothing; not having any people

    The term "empty" describes a place, vehicle, or container that contains nothing and no one.

    • The box was empty.
    • The roads were nearly empty of traffic.



    Vacant

    Vacant means unoccupied, not being used.

    If something is vacant, it is not being used by anyone. 

    • The seat next to him was vacant.
    • The hotel has no vacant room.


    Bare

    Bare means not having a covering, not covered by any clothes. If a part of your body is bare, it is not covered by nay clothing. A tree or a branch is bare if it has no leaves on it.

    • She likes to walk around in bare feet.



     Difference between empty, vacant, and bare:-

    Empty

    Empty means containing nothing or no one. It describes a lack of contents. It focuses on the absence of things or people that would normally be there. For example: The house was empty after the owner took all the furniture.


    Vacant

    Vacant specifically means not occupied. It implies that a space, seat, or position is available for someone to us.

    A vacant position, a vacant seat, a vacant house, a vacant room. Vacant answers the question, "Is this spot taken?"

    • We have a vacant table in the corner of the café.


    Bare

    Bare means uncovered or without the usual or appropriate covering. It often has  amore visual or tactile quality.

    Bare walls means no paint or pictures, bare feet means no sleepers, bare trees means no leaves.

    Bare answers the question, "Is it covered or decorated?"

    • We should walk bare feet on the green grass.



    In a nutshell

    Empty means contain nothing.

    Vacant means not occupied.

    Bare means not covered.
