Words on attack

There are some important words that define the way of attacking. Here we have listed some of the words here.

    Attack

     To attack someone or place means to try to damage them using physical violence or by using some other kind of force.

    • A German attack on Poland, they warned, would mean war with Britain and France.
    • If I was rich, I’d buy something useful, like a pet dragon trained to attack my enemies.


    Mug

    Mug means to attack somebody violently in order to steal their money, especially in a public place, such as a street. If someone mugs you, they attack you in order to steal your money in public places.

    • Some boys were trying to mug me.
    • My mother has been mugged many times.


    Ambush

    Ambush means to attack someone by surprise from a hidden place. If a group of people ambush someone, they hide and wait for them and then suddenly attack them.

    • Our minister was ambushed and killed by terrorists.
    • They were being constantly ambushed and had been firing a thousand or more rounds a day.


    Assault 

    Assault means to violently attack someone. To assault is to punch, yell, beat, and abuse someone. Assaulting someone is crime. It can be verbal or physical.

    • He assaulted me. I didn’t want to do anything, but he just pressed me against the tree and did whatever he wanted.
    • She was sexually assaulted in her home.
    • Husband was arrested for assaulting his wife.



    Invade

    Invade means to enter a foreign place using military force in order to take control the place.

    A country's army invades another country going inside it and tries to take control of it.

    • Russian army invaded Ukraine.
    • American companies are trying to invade china.


    Raid

    Raid means to attack a place without warning. When the police or other government officers raid a place, they enter it suddenly and by force in order to occupy the place so that they can catch dangerous criminals or other illegal things.

    • Because your Bureau was stronger on the day they raided my island, I now find myself here.
    • Suspecting that Lim was actually running a vast smuggling ring, they raided his shop.


    Retaliate

    Retaliate means to take revenge. It means to attack a person, country, or group because they have attacked and harmed you first.

    • They returned with a larger group and retaliated with rock-throwing of their own.
    • In the months after 9/11, a whole series of questions arose as to whether to retaliate, how to retaliate, and who to retaliate against.
