Words on manners of sitting

STRADDLE  (V)  [strad-l]
Meaning:-

A manner of sitting on something with one leg on each side e.g.-sitting on a bike, horse, bicycle, etc.

BESTRIDE  (V)    [bih-strahyd]
Meaning:-
  • To sit with one leg on either side. 
Bestride may be a syno. of straddle. Bestride is the exact word describing sitting on either side.   

BROOD (V/N)   [brood]
Meaning:-
Bird sits on the eggs in a way that the young come out of them.
(Syno.-HATCH, INCUBATE)


LOUNGE (V/N)    [lounj]
Meaning:-
Lounge means to sit lazily on something which is very comfortable, may be sofa or any other things like sofa, for a short period of time.

NESTLE (V)    [nes-uhl]
Meaning:-
  • To sit down in a warm or soft place
In winter season, you nestle with blankets. Child nestle into the mother's lap.

SLOUCH  (V/N)    [slouch]
Meaning:-
A way of sitting in which your shoulders are not straight and your head bent downward as you look tired or lazy.

BABY-SIT (V)    [bey-bee-sit]
Meaning:-
  • Sit around the baby to take care of when their parents are out

SQUAT (V/N/Adj.)   [skwot]
Meaning:-
  • To sit on your heels with your knees bent up close to your body
You squat on a wall when you get tired. Thieves squat behind a wall in order to avoid police.
